Neuropsychological evaluations involve the assessment of cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and problem solving, using non-invasive verbal and written tests that many people find interesting. A thorough history is obtained, and emotional, behavioral, and motivational issues are also assessed. Neuropsychological evaluation results can help clarify the nature of cognitive problems (e.g., attention deficits or memory decline) and guide treatment recommendations.
Behavioral sleep medicine focuses on the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders by addressing behavioral, psychological, and physiological factors that interfere with sleep. Dr. Loops offers cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), a brief, structured, evidence-based approach that is more effective than medication for treating chronic insomnia. She also has expertise in treating circadian rhythm disorders and other sleep problems.
Psychoeducational evaluations involve tests of academic skills, such as reading comprehension, decoding, math, and writing, as well as general intellect, memory, and other cognitive abilities. They are typically performed to assess for a learning disorder (e.g., dyslexia). Results may indicate that a student warrants academic accommodations such as extended time on tests, use of a note-taker in class, or a foreign language waiver. Dr. Loops has almost 20 years of experience in evaluating individuals who are seeking accommodations on high-stakes standardized tests including the Bar exam, GRE, SAT, USMLE, and LSAT.
ADHD/executive function coaching utilizes evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies to address difficulties in areas such as organization, productivity, and time management. One-on-one sessions with Dr. Loops are tailored to address individual needs, which may include working more efficiently, increasing your attention span, planning and structuring your time, and/or overcoming procrastination. Group sessions may also be available.
